This wheat bouquet was done using silk perle 12 for the stems, 4 mm hand
dyed silk ribbon for the wheat heads and Krienik #4 gold braid for the
embellishment on the wheat heads. Organza 3/8" ribbon was tied in a knot
then tacked in place.
To do the wheat, first stitch your stems in stem stitch. Then , starting at
the end of each stem, place a Japanese ribbon stitch. Alternate Japanese
ribbon stitches down each side of the stems overlapping slightly and not
having any line up directly across. Final step is one long stitch from the
bottom of each Japanese ribbon stitch to about 1/8" past the end of the
ribbon stitch in gold metallic #4 braid.
