One picture is a make up bag I made and embellished it with silk wire ribbon flowers.
The bouquet is hand dyed silk ribbon embroidery I did for a bread dough ornament of Judith & Katherine's
The picture with the hummingbird is a little picture I made for my mom using a piece of lace I thought looked like a house gable and made a little SRE hanging basket.
The girl with the violets is an image I did SRE on and framed for a friends birthday.
The picture of the house is a picture I created using embroidery, SRE and needlepunch.
The butterfly pillow is a kit from RibbonSmyth that I had a lot of fun creating using the crayon tinting technique.
The baskets are paper pieced and the whole mini wallhaning block measures 12" x 12"/
Pink Evening Primroses with Gayfeathers (purple) and some simple weed.
And this is my favorite, the Texas Bluebonnet with some weeds. The bees are made from a simple arrangement of glass beads.
This is the Indian Paintbrush & Huisache Daisey basket.
Here is a project that I stitched recently its a Silk Ribbon design from Helen Dafter's book. I chose the fabric and color of ribbons I used. I am going to have it framed, Helen showed it as a cushion.
This is a small ribbon embroidery that I saw in the A - Z of Silk Ribbon Embroidery book. I stitched it onto a small piece of wool blanketing and then blanket stitched it onto a sweatshirt of my little grand-daughter.
This little Mouse was a project that was shown in one of last years Inspirations Magazine. The Mouse is made out of felt and I stitched the sweet little bullion roses and dlowers from one strand of Madeira stranded silk.
It was very hard to sew together on the sewing machine so I blanket stitched it together with cotton twist thread.
I am sending photos of my favorite CQ project I have done as of yet, (actually I have only made a handful of CQ things, but I like this the best). My mom LOVES pigs and collects them. Her entire house has a pig theme, we call it the pig palace.
For Christmas last year I decided to make her a pig in purples to match her bedroom colors. This pig is about 2 feet long and just over a foot high. I had so much fun doing this and she loves it, so it makes it so much more special to me.
My under the sea square is going to be part of a huge quilt I am planning. I wanted two things in my block, a treasure chest and a mermaid. I searched online for a chest. Found it then transferred it to the square. The inside is satin stitched and strips of leather added as an edging. The mermaid was easy except for the hair. I used a clay face earring that I had for the face and satin stitched the body.
In Victorian times ladies did lots of needlework to pass the time of day, since servants did everything for them. (The word hussif pertains to "lady", thus - Lady's Needlebook).
Look for her article in this month's issue of CQMagOnline!
The ornament was for a lovely lady who loves purple iridescent pretties. When I found the holly print with a pink background and silver sparkle, I knew I could go from there. There are iridescent snowflakes cut from a ribbon, iridescent pale green sequins, iridescent trims and beads, silver and other threads, embellishments in SRE of lavender, pink, blue and green. The lace edge has an iridescent sparkle, and the finishing touch is a silver chain tassel (makes a nice weight so the piece hangs well from a ribbon loop).
The stocking was designed (for my mother) to be sophisticated, with rich fabrics and trims in royal purple and deep rich gold. It includes a large amethyst bead, a gold tassel and a fabulous vintage or repro glass button (from the fabulous Button Emporium in Portland, OR). It has a cord hanging loop, thin cotton batting for body and luscious coordinating vintage look fabrics for the lining and solid back.
This is a pincushion I made for Rita Brizendine in the Pincushion swap we had a few weeks ago. The pattern came from Judith Montano's book "Crazy Quilt Handbook" 2nd Edition.
AOL tins. I made several of these for Xmas presents to my cq group. The white one is several different whites or creams with gold threads - very elegant.
Fair purse is the Saber Purse in JBM's second edition of "Crazy Quilt Handbook". I added a flap so things wouldn't fall out, especially change.
Here are 2 pics of Pillows I did for gifts.
They are pictures of parents from the 50's -- one is of my Mom and Dad another is for a friend and her parents.
I'm working on small purses right now.
I just love making Barbara Randle s handbag ,because I could use CQ, fibers, beads, buttons and fluff. The fabrics are cotton and the handles and base of the handbag , the black and white is batik. When I carry the handbag, I have to walk with attitude!!
I was inspired by the print fabric that I found one day while searching for something interesting for crazy quilting. I had heard of the encrusted round robin but wasn't confident enough to join, but this block is my version of "encrusted". It was a fun block to piece and embellish. I've used some hand dyed rayon motifs and lace, arigated perle cotton, silk ribbon, and various beads that I have collected along the way. The tiny tassle was easy to make and a fun addition. The square "charm" was part of a braclet that was 90% off!
This is the work done on a RR of the European RR group. The theme was Fall. I worked on the block owned by Valeri Bennett. I made a frog climbing on some twigs and leaves. I used mainly DMC floss for the frog. The leaves are done with one strand of green and one strand of beige.
One of my series, octagonal, moths. The name of this piece is "Dancing In The Moonlight". Heavily embellished; net, lace, beads, embroideries, buttons, jewelry, a vintage pearl and sequin triangle represents the moon.
"The Food Chain" This octagonal wall hanging is heavily embellished and mostly with all kinds of bugs, spiders, flies, anything that represents I Will Eat You (if you don't eat me first.) All kinds of beads, embroideries, laces and braids, jewelry; all the bugs are made with some kind of beads and other embellishing items.
This is the first of a series of octagonal wall hangings featuring moths. The name of the piece is The Moth. It is a crazyquilt piece, covered with net and an appliqued moth, with a little embellishing.
These 5 pictures are of my first crazy quilt I made, I made it with lots of love for my Mother. It was the most fun I have had making anything
I have been doing crazy quilting for about 7 years now. So far I make them for family members. These 5 pictures are of a crazy quilt in process now that I am making or my Brother and his wife.
My first bluebonnets.
"A Walk in the Garden" that I designed and made for myself. It measures 10" x 10", is fully lined and has an inside pocket.
A sea pouch. It measures 4" x 3" and I got the inspiration from Pat Winter and Judith Baker Montano. Heavily embellished with things from the sea.
A sea theme business card holder that measure 4" x 2.5". Designed and made by me.It is encrusted with beads, shells and fibers.
A 4.5" x 5" purse that I call "Birds in Spring" with silk ribbon flowers, beads, charms and a silk print. It was designed and made by me. It has two separate compartments inside.
I used a small fan block (approx. 4-1/2" square) that I designed for paperpiecing; inspired by the fans in the current issue of CQ Mag, as well as the need for a paper
pieced block for my Guild's "Block of the Month"
(see www.cfqgalaska.org/botm/ for the pattern;
personal use only please)
"I dyed all the fabric, ribbon, thread and trims for the two needle cases."
Mini wedding pillow for DGD's future wedding (hope chest).
