In the last issue of CQMagOnline Pat Winter had an article on embellishing a silk print. This is one of the prints she featured.
She kindly gave it to me and this is the block I made from the print.
I wanted to do a companion piece, using the same fabrics and embellishing.
I embellished a woman silk transfer to get the effect of "woman and child".
They are not true mirror images as I pieced them differently, to get a right and
left effect. Using fabrics from my stash, I pieced the block to measure a six
inch square. I use the flip and sew method, on a muslin
backing.
Supplies were used for the seam embellishments:
-
Seam #1 Caron Soie Cristale 5011 and Mill Hill Beads # 3044
Seam #2 Two strands Soie Cristale 5011 and one strand 201, beads from stash
Seam #3 Caron Waterlillies #135 and Mill Hill Beads #11074
Seam #4 Caron Waterlillies #185 and Mill Hill beads #02086
Seam #5 Caron Waterlillies #172 and Mill Hill Beads #42031
Seam #6 Fargo Roses, Japanese Stitch leaves and Colonial Knots
Seam #7 Caron Waterlillies #120 and beads from stash
Seam #8 Caron Soie Cristale #0079 and Mill Hill Beads # 42031 and 11074
Additional trims and ribbons from Pink Peppercorns, Hand-dyed Fibers and Cam
Creations
Use the Herringbone Stitch and three strands of floss for all seams
I bound the block with a tone on tone purple fabric and, added the trim.
