Following are illustrations of embellishments on CQ blocks created with a sewing machine. Most of these use a machine capable of programmed embroidery but there is also an example using a simple zigzag stitch and bias cut silk ribbon. Hope you find these inspiring!

The background "lace" was a free sample downloaded from the internet and stitched out using a Black metallic thread on black spark Organdy.

The flowers are rolled silk ribbon roses and gathered picot edge ribbon posies. The bouquet was further embellished with beads

The Dragonfly was also stitched out from a free sample downloaded from the internet using a black metallic thread on black spark Organdy. No further embellishing to the dragonfly was done. These are also very effective stitched in a variegated thread on chiffon or tulle.
I received this wonderful block in the Autograph Block Swap. It was created by Pat Freeman. The cross stitched Buffalo was stitched out by machine and is a fabulous addition, meaningful too! A picture of the block was used with permission from Pat.
This rose bouquet is nestled in a ribbon posy made from 1 1/2" bias silk ribbon with the edge embellished by machine using a black metallic thread and a simple zigzag stitch. The ribbon was stretched slightly while stitching.
