Kimber designed this easy BOI for the October issue of CQMagOnline. She then shows us how it can be made into a quick and easy needle book. A wonderful gift idea for your stitching groups or where you may have several gifts to make. Needle Book :The needle book is 4.5" x 4.5". I used a pretty print with a butterfly on it for the center fabric. I then pulled some dupioni in matching colors. There is also a pretty yellow fabric I bought when I was at a quilt show. I used all Spun Silk #12 threads from www.hand-dyedfibers.com. I chose to only do seam treatments, because I did not want the needle book to catch on my projects. Sometimes fabrics or threads can snag on bulky embellishments. Inside the needle book, I used some wool felt and stitched in some pages to hold the needles and pins. I also made a small pocket for my scissors or packages of needles and other small items. I took two lace appliqués and dyed them with Ozecraft Dyes from www.lisasheaven.com in the colors Linen and Persian Gold. I then attached them to the inside, on the pocket and on the front page of the felt. I added a MOP Star button to the front and a green loop for a closure to the back. |
