Crocheted Lace Trim

In the early 1900s, various needlework techniques and patterns were printed and published in ladies magazines, booklets, and pamphlets. This pattern for a crocheted lace trim is an original design from a 1917 edition of Modern Priscilla.

Here's a picture of the lace as it was originally printed in the booklet. And this was the original pattern...mistakes and all!

I've adapted the original pattern for modern day use.

Materials:

DMC Cebellia crochet cotton size 30 or Size 12 perle
Crochet hook size 8 (1.5mm)

Pattern Notes:
The pattern repeat is 26 stitches. To calculate your starting chain determine how many repeats you want, multiply the number of repeats times 26, and then add 7 for the ending point. In my example I made 5 repeats so: (5 x 26) + 7 = 137

Joining double crochet cluster (j-dc cl): [yo hook, insert hook through space, yo and draw up a loop (lp), yo, skip 2 tr, insert hook in space, yo and draw up a lp, yo, draw through all 3 lps on hook.]

To Make:
Chain (ch) 137, treble crochet (tr) in 7th chain from hook, * (skip 1, tr) 5 times making 5 spaces, ch 5, tr in same st with last tr, (skip 1, tr) 5 times making 5 spaces, skip 5 ch, tr, repeat from * to end of chain,br />
turn, slip to 2nd tr, * ch 6, single crochet (sc) in 4th stitch (st) back to form picot (p), ch 3, skip tr, sc in next tr, ch 4, tr in 5 ch, p 3 times, sc in top of last tr, ch 4, sc in next tr, ch 2, p, ch 3, skip tr, sc in next tr, ch 2, p, ch 3, skip tr, sc in next tr, ch 2, skip 2 tr in point, sc in tr, ch 2, p, ch 3, skip tr, sc in next tr, ch 10, sc back in top of sc between 2nd and 3rd picot chains back, ch 2, turn, sc 8 in 10 chain, p, sc 8 in 10 chain, sc in same tr as start of chain 10, repeat from * to end for length of trim, fasten off.

Turn lace to work on starting chain edge. Join in top of first tr, * 2 double crochet (dc) in each space 4 times, dc, j-dc cl, dc, 2 dc in each space 4 times, 7 dc in 5 chain space, repeat from * to end of trim, fasten off.
