The students in my classes are not always interested in making a quilt or wall hanging. I start with a 16 block because I think it is easier for beginners to deal with, and this is a good size to use when teaching my method for constructing crazy quilt blocks. If anyone chooses to make just one block, they can learn the process and make a pillow, or frame their block. Crazy Quilt blocks make very pretty pillows, especially if you add bead embellishments. Crazy Quilts always make a good home for keepsakes, and pillows make great gifts.

The lace on this pillow is very old. I love the off white color of vintage lace. When I make a block, sometimes I find myself looking for fabric that compliments the lace, rather than lace to embellish the block.

The fabric is silk. Cotton makes beautiful blocks, but silk continues to call out to me. It is so pretty and the colors are always so rich. I love the feel of silk.

The orange pillow is finished; the other blocks will be pillows too. At the moment the other blocks are UFO's.
