CQMagOnline is proud to announce that another one of our staff is a finalist in "The $100,000 Quilting Challenge" magazine. Allison Aller's beautiful quilt "Crazy For Flowers" is this quarter's winner in the Crazy Quilt division. Look for the magazine on sale June 5, 2007.

To quote Alison, "I started this quilt in May of 2006 and sewed on it all summer, often running out to my garden to pick flowers and have them on my sewing table for inspiration as I worked". Sharon Boggan's 100 Details in 100 Days was on-line then and the details were also a great source of inspiration.

One of Allison's favorite components in the quilt is the computer printed fabric that she incorporated in each block of the quilt. She makes collages of fresh flowers, photographs them and then prints them out on silk or cotton. Many of the fabrics, lace, threads and beads she used have come to her over the years through friends and from on- line swaps. Allison states that she felt surrounded by friends as she worked and that feeling contributed to the happiness she felt while working on the quilt. It is her wish that that joy comes through to the viewer.

Allison lives near Portland, Oregon. She has been quilting since 1972 and Crazy Quilting since 2000. Her work has also been featured in the "Way To Women's Wellness Art Bra Calendars".
