The journey of this project started several years ago when I began
contributing both monetarily and professionally to "Ride for Kids," a
charity program that contributes funds for research on pediatric brain
cancer.. A friend of mine, Pamela McCombs, has gathered contributions for this cause
for approximately six years and has been the state Grand Champion the last
four years. This year Pam raised an all time high of $11,000.00 on her
own!!!

As a part of this work, a number of us at CQI joined to create a project
that will contribute to these wonderful kids in a light-hearted, visual way.
At first we were going to create individual quiltlets to give to each of the
children. Then we quickly discovered this plan would limit the types of
work in which we excelled, and we still might not have enough for all the
deserving kids. With that in mind, we changed the direction slightly and
decided upon a wall hanging to be donated to the Pediatric Brain Cancer Ward
at the Children's Hospital. This way, the children AND their
families can enjoy all the creativity and wonder together! This project is
open to everyone, not just CQI members, and we are now enjoying seeing some
fabulous contributions from folks across the world. The pictures here show
the quiltlets we have received so far with many more on the way. I hope that
others will join in the spirit of the project by creating a piece for us!!!
The deadline is extended to accommodate everyone. I would LOVE to see enough
quiltlets come in to make other wall hangings which could be donated to
other wards.
Thank you for your inspiration and contributions! Together we are a
fabulous group of visual artists. Won't it be wonderful to see the
children's faces when this project is completed and donated? For
