Pamela Gurney's fourth book, Punchneedle Creations, is without a
doubt the most thorough of the recent punchneedle embroidery
books. Her instructions are comprehensive;
her techniques are exhaustive;
her patterns are beautiful; and her use of punchneedle with silk ribbon is
delightful. Her lengthy discussion of using nearly any fabric as a
base for embroidery is very important to those who wish to incorporate this
technique into their crazy quilting.
What impresses me
most is her use 7mm and 13mm silk ribbon. For the larger ribbons, she
uses a special punchneedle which may be the only one that I do not currently
own. Gurney elevates the punchneedle from folk art to
serious embroidery. I highly recommend this book for anyone interested
in punchneedle embroidery. |
