2008 Bernina Fashion Show designers announced. This year’s theme is “Rendezvous.”

It is the premiere wearable art event in the world, where the skills of seasoned artists and designers come together in a high-tech presentation that explodes with color and creativity. The Bernina Fashion Show annually brings together the best wearable art garments of the year, and the 48 designers whose creations will be featured in the 2008 edition, Rendezvous, have been chosen. An additional two designers from the upcoming annual Bernina University will also have their garments shown.

With ornately sewn, quilted, and embellished garments from practical street wear to elaborate fantasy, the Bernina Fashion Show is the wearable art event of the year. And under the sponsorship of Bernina, it has grown in popularity and impact. So much so that showings of the garments have expanded to rotating displays, mini-runway shows, and a “Meet the Designers” section on the show floor in addition to its full-length show.

Rendezvous will premiere to the industry on October 26 at International Quilt Market, and to the public on October 30 at International Quilt Festival. Both shows are held at the George R. Brown Convention Center in Houston, Texas. The garments will then travel to several other shows and venues, including the spring 2009 International Quilt Festival in Chicago, Illinois, and the summer Festival in Long Beach, California.

“The Bernina Fashion Show really is one of my favorite events at our Festivals,” says Karey Bresenhan, Director of Market and Festival. “It’s exciting to see what incredibly creative garments the designers come up with each year. And even if our attendees can’t go to the show itself, they can experience the garments on display in the special exhibits area as well as during the informal live modeling sessions, and on our Festival webcasts at”
